What is the ultimate purpose of life, and human striving? The Mahatmas tell us that Universal Brotherhood is the aspiration of the true Adept, while HPB adds that if we are all happy to be an impersonal force for good, the progress made would astonish the world.

The Theosophical Society is a worldwide organisation founded in 1875. Its primary aim is universal brotherhood without distinction of race, creed, colour, gender or social background. It is based on the realisation that life in all its diverse forms, human and non-human, is indivisibly One.

The Mission Statement of the Theosophical Society is:   “To serve humanity by cultivating an ever-deepening understanding and realization of the Ageless Wisdom, spiritual Self-transformation, and the Unity of all Life.

The Society imposes no beliefs on its members, who are united by a common search for Truth and a desire to learn the meaning and purpose of existence through study, reflection, self-responsibility and self-less service. It jealously guards and promotes freedom of thoughtand no member may impose their views on any other.

Members of the Theosophical Society come from all walks of life and belong to any philosophy or religion, or none. They stand in unity through their acceptance of the three Objects of the Society and their aspiration to learn about the timeless teachings of Theosophy – the Esoteric Wisdom. Unity lies at the very heart of the theosophical community and inspires the lives of its members towards unselfish service and inner transformation. Divine Wisdom is One – the paths towards it are many.

Three Objects of the Theosophical Society

  1. To form a nucleus of universal Brotherhood without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour.

  2. To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science.

  3. To investigate the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in man.

SUMMER SCHOOL 2019

For this year`s Summer School, we are returning to the popular venue of Hillscourt, the HQ and Conference Centre of the NASUWT, at Rednal, South West Birmingham.

The School runs from 10 -17th August and is titled ‘Reality, Illusion and Life’.

The chief guest speaker who will be giving the prestigious Blavatsky Lecture as well as the Public lecture is Eric McGough, former National President and founder of both the Diploma in Theosophy course as well as the new Higher Diploma course.

The program follows that of previous years with lectures, Study Groups, Workshops, Yoga, Qigong and Meditations.

Hillscourt is set in the lovely Lickey Hills and weather permitting, there will be two chances to go on lead walks through the beautiful woods that surround the immediate area. The Wednesday afternoon outing will be a Canal boat trip starting at the Gas street Basin in the vibrant centre of Birmingham.

Hillscourt has excellent en suite accommodation and serves wholesome Vegetarian and Vegan food. The number of rooms are limited and so early booking is recommended at this particular venue.
